Sal l Island, Cabo Verde - 26–27 October 2026

Sal Island, Cabo Verde, is hosting the second edition of the Lusophone Africa Investment Forum on 26 and 27 October 2026. Organised by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, the forum aims to connect investors, businesses, financial institutions and public-sector decision-makers with investment opportunities across Portuguese-speaking African countries.

Under the theme “Investing in Lusophone Africa: Leveraging Corridors, Developing Agribusiness and Driving Sustainable Tourism”, the event brings together representatives from Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe to discuss investment projects, business partnerships and regional economic integration.

Logistics, Energy and Agribusiness in Focus

The programme addresses strategic sectors for economic development, including logistics corridors, transport, connectivity, energy, agribusiness and sustainable tourism.

These sectors offer opportunities to mobilise private capital, develop infrastructure, strengthen supply chains and generate greater economic value. Discussions also focus on project financing, agricultural value chains and stronger links between local producers, businesses, distributors and investors.

Angola at the Centre of Regional Opportunities

Angola's participation is particularly relevant as the country seeks to diversify its economy, develop infrastructure and strengthen trade links with regional and international markets.

Among the business organisations highlighted in connection with the forum are Lobito Atlantic Railway and Grupo Carrinho, which operate in areas relevant to logistics connectivity and agribusiness development.

Cooperation between Portuguese-speaking African countries can help identify investment opportunities, facilitate business contacts and connect promising projects with financial and strategic partners.

Mobilising Investment and Turning Opportunities into Results

The forum seeks to connect investment opportunities with capital, encourage new business partnerships and strengthen economic ties between Portuguese-speaking African countries and international investors.

According to information published by the IFC, the institution invested and mobilised approximately US$1.2 billion across ten projects in Portuguese-speaking African countries over the previous five years, highlighting the role of private-sector financing in regional development.

The challenge is to turn dialogue and investor interest into concrete projects that create jobs, stimulate business activity and support sustainable economic growth.

ABBB: Connecting Angola to International Markets

For Angolan Business Beyond Border (ABBB), initiatives of this kind highlight the importance of strengthening Angola's economic relations with international markets and bringing businesses, investors and strategic partners closer together.

Cooperation among Portuguese-speaking African countries provides a valuable platform for exploring commercial opportunities, supporting business internationalisation and developing partnerships in sectors with growth potential.

Strengthening these connections can contribute to a more integrated, competitive economy that is open to international investment.
